Molded Dodge Charger

Design Process
Every year Broughal Middle school has a car race using injection molded cars designed by Lehigh University students. The resulting cars come in all shapes including rocket and spaghetti designs. My project group was asked to design a 1970’s Dodge Charger. This was a fun challenge because their are many undercuts in the design off the car that don’t necessarily lend themselves to the injection molding process. In order to mold the back window and front grill undercuts we parted the car in half vertically and used males extrusions to block off the undercuts.
At the end off the semester we joined the middle school students to race our cars.
